My Thanksgiving story

When I was younger my father told me that I was truly reenacting the feast between the pilgrims and the Indians during Thanksgiving. You see my father is American Indian (with a splash of other things) and my mother is what he joked about as being the “Pilgrim”. I guess you would have to be a four year old to get the humor. As a little girl the holidays were always so magical for me, they still are. Thanksgiving was always special because I would watch as my mother took her fine dishes out of the china cabinet. She would adore the tables in lavish displays that looked liked we would be expecting the Queen of England. She even decorated the kid’s table; in addition to my cousin who would be sitting with me I was able to invite my best childhood friend and sister, Rava and Rasta. They were the staple to our holiday celebrations they were my favorite friends growing up.  As my mother would put the cranberry sauce, and olives on the table I would take the olives and place as many as I could on my fingers before she would notice. There would be only 10 olives in the dish when we started. By the time dinner would come around no olives would left. My mother would smile and add more when our family and friends arrived. She knew what I was doing; she really did have eyes in the back of her head!

This year the boys and I  did the Turkey hop!

First stop: My dear friend Theresa.  Not only is she an amazing friend she is the BOSS in the kitchen and knows how to make anything and after years of her friends and family encouraging her she now caters. She is all about quality not quantity so its all word of mouth she doesn’t advertise her stuff personally.

I wanted to gobble these all up!!!!!

Theresa made carmel dipped apples and layered in white chocolate. It is her own carmel recipe and its out of this world. She used candied pineapple candies for the feathers ( she usually makes the feathers in white chocolate dyed in the color and places them on the apple, yeah she got lazy this year! LOL), almonds for the eyes, and candy corn for the nose.

I had one and it was so delicious!

Theresa makes tasty treats and can make just about anything. If you are interested in any catering needs please email me and I will forward on to Theresa.

Our next stop was with the Pilgrim – Here I am with my three wild turkeys

We did eat here;

Next we saw the Indian

My teenager being a goofball – eating his favorite; pumpkin pie  fresh-whip cream his grandfather made. He can’t get enough not sure what number slice he was on!

I thought I was in the clear for cooking, well my boys wanted me to do our own feast at our house the next day. Thank goodness Theresa came to the rescue and added her famous spices and ingredients.  We might have been a day late however my boys need their mommy to make the thanksgiving feast in order for this holiday to be complete!
