Knott’s Scary Farm

 

I recently went to Knott’s Scary farm, the largest and longest running Halloween event in the world. I am still coaxing myself to sleep with the lights off ( I dare you to sleep with the lights off after seeing this FACE). No such luck, one light stays on and I am constantly checking under my bed. I don’t know if you have ever been to Knott’s Scary Farm before, however if you haven’t, imagine being in a horror film and you are the main character.

Hence my video, my makeshift of the “Blair Witch Project” ,  you know the farewell video. I am not joking when I say creatures jump out at you or blend into things to get you. There are dark walkways and it is intense. I was at a crossroads, I mean I would rather take a bullet in the head then go down the dark alleyway, oh look I already did!

These creatures come up to you, follow you around, torment you and taunt you. Imagine your worst nightmares. I have one recurring dream that I forgot something and I am standing in front of a crowd vulnerable and I am exposed to harassment.  You know that dream where everyone is pointing at you and laughing, or is that just me?

Well I went to this one maze and this little possessed puppet was there and  it was like he knew my deepest darkest nightmare, well looking at him was one part of the nightmare and the other….

bringing me to the front of the line and he had everyone chant, “Stupid puppet do your dance do your dance. Now everyone laugh at the stupid puppet.”

I can still see the crowd and their faces laughing and going along with the possessed puppet out of fear of being tormented themselves, talk about the bystander effect in full swing here.

I don’t care how brave you pretend to be, its nothing like you ever imagined. I saw grown men throw their girlfriends in front of them as the creatures came toward them in an ever fast paced crawling motion that will send chills down your spine.

They crawl and they way they look at you. Sweet Goodness  I am still trying to get this creature out of my head when I close my eyes at night. Not going to lie she is the reason I check under my bed. Ok maybe I don’t check under my bed I make my 5 yo do it for me. Amazing how candy can motivate.

I saw one man scream so loud he started crying trying to escape one of the mazes. Men will be utter gentlemen during this night. offering you to go before them as you enter the dark mazes, chanting the mantra in a stuttering tone, “Ladies First.” The first time I wish there wasn’t such a rule. Thank goodness for Allison. She was a Poor unsuspecting bystander who had the privilege of getting her hand squeezed by me during The Dead of Winter Maze. You meet new friends some not by choice as in Allison’s case but hey, it was dark and I was scared and your hand will be grabbed, with me anyway. Thanks Allison,  by the way did the blood start circulating in your hand yet?

I am so glad that I had the opportunity to do the Admission plus fright lane.  The Fright Lane pass allows  you to have access to ten mazes and unlock five bonus maze rooms. If you decide not to do that, the regular pass to get into Knott’s Scary Farm is $39.99 or if you want to go every single night of Knott’s Scary Farm it’s around $80.

The highlight you are allowed to purchase “Liquid Courage”; alcohol for those 21 and older.

I had to take a few swigs in order to face my fears. Yeah don’t judge!!!

 

 

You never know the hand that will be played

Nothing is as it appears, there is always something up their sleeve at Knott’s Scary Farm and that is what makes it so thrilling and makes you scream for more.

When you are there you can choose to get some vampire bites or a bullet hole in head for an additional fee. I opted for the bullet hole in the head.

I figured if I looked like one of those creatures they would think I was one of them. It didn’t work, I think that is because they can smell fear a mile away.

I even tried to blend in as a DJ at KIIS FM’s booth with Bella Fox to escape the horrific monsters. Yeah that didn’t work out too well for me. They found me. They are lurking behind every corner and they will find you. Even on the dance floor, after all that is where the “Boogie Man” Likes to get down.

 

 

Would I go again yes, but I would bring reinforcements. However that “Depends” on your bladder and how easily things scare you, so brining an extra pair of clothes might be a good idea. Unless you are going to say you got wet on the log ride?  Before planning your adventure to Knott’s Scary Farm, check out the links provided. Great packages and deals for the thrill seekers. I had a great time, still traumatized but overall I would do it again. My friends and I have never been so scared, laughed so hard, ran so fast… we had the greatest time.

I dare you to go and not scream. OH and here is a little tip, when they tell you to get down or run. DON’T ask questions just run, run like the wind. In that moment let your name be chanted as Forest and just keep going!
