T’was the days before Christmas and all through the house all the creatures were stirring what happened to being quite like a mouse? With Ipods, Ipads and Kindles galore……Whatever happened to reading anymore? The children were nestled all snug on the couch with screens in their faces. When out of the kitchen there arose such a clatter, the kids sprang from the couch to see what was the matter. Mommy was saying…..I’m done with these electronics and screens. I want to see your faces in pages and your imagination run wild with virtual reality that is read all over.
I was so excited to stumble upon info from Brightly, a site that helps parents raise kids who love to read. Brightly shared some of the ways they’re helping families celebrate the holidays with books, let me say that again….WITH BOOKS. Visit Brightly’s Holiday Central to discover seasonal reads and book gifts for kids of all ages, ideas to create new family traditions around reading, holiday printables & activities, and more. I was so excited to get my kids something else besides downloads, iTunes cards and electronics.
There is nothing wrong with the above mentioned. Everything in moderation. However my kids were submerged in screen time. I was very excited to learn about brightly and share with you and my family. Did you know that Brightly even has discussion questions to go with their books, if you do a book club with the family or friends.
Stay tuned for our book club with my littlest Boyznberry and his friends.
