For most music is a therapy – it evokes a mood. If the artist did a great job it leaves you feeling full of sorrow, happiness, anger …. you get the gist. I love music as it is the artists form of expressing themselves through song. You can often tell the mood or the story behind the words. I often dissect certain songs and read between the lines if you will.
With that said this song literally annoys me. Not Adele’s singing it’s quite lovely. It’s the words within her song. Yes, yes with the song, “Someone like you”; we can all hear the tone of a desperate ex reminiscing on the good times of the relationship. Trust me when I say I hear the heartache, but its quickly turned to being annoyed that this person can’t let things go.
Before I continue I will add that this is a song I am choosing to dissect and it has nothing to do with my personal life. Well I guess in a way it does as I’m brining it to life in my cyber world. To the extent that I heard this song play over and over this weekend and I had to pick it apart.
Don’t get me wrong I still sing along but I can’t help to feel embarrassed for the woman in this song with a dash of empathy. I mean if we are all being honest to an extent we have all been there before; either on the heartache or the moving on part; or perhaps both. Maybe I hate it so much because I like it and maybe I could relate to both sides of this minefield?
There is one thing to mourn a relationship but there is another when you try to come back in a relationship that has ended and the other has moved on. There is a word for that and its called; Home-wrecker and or stalker with a sprinkle of cray cray. I think this song kind of gives breakups a bad wrap but in away its so raw.
