The boyznberries and I had the chance to try out the Trough. When you walked in, you couldn’t you miss the sign: Its true this was a great place to make a bad decision.
Although it wasn’t a bad decision it was actually a great decision to try these unique sandwiches. The Trough specializes in Sandwiches and not just any sandwiches. They are gourmet farm fresh sandwiches. The Trough is owned by the same person who owns, The Blind Pig. Clever names eh?
My boyznberries were enjoying sitting on the bar stools
and watching as their lunch was being prepared.
I truly loved the decor
and the friendly staff!
MY oldest had the pulled pork sandwich
which was adored with bbq sauce, coleslaw on a corn meal roll.
He also had to try the taters and the onion rings.
My oldest is a chili enthusiast and loves it smothered in and on anything. My son ordered it on the side as it comes. I thought the chili looked great. As stated my son is an enthusiast when it comes to chili. Sadly he was less than enthused.
If he doesn’t eat something that is usually a red flag. I had to see what the issue was. I don’t like chili so I was probably not the perfect person to try it either. However I tried it and I loved it. This is chili? WOW I like chili now. Look you can’t please them all, but most importantly I was pleased.
My middle fanatic son had the Cheese steak. Ironically he is bold in personality just not with his tastebuds. He is a plain man. He had the Rib Eye on a corn meal roll. Minus the Mushroom duxelles , peperonata and provolone mornay cheese. He devoured the sandwich, you would have thought he was eating out of a trough…pun intended.
My youngest one would make any Italian Grandmother proud. He had the spaghetti sandwich and all that it entailed. With Bolognese, parmesan, garlic / herb butter on a corn meal roll. It was delicious. Yes I stole a bite or two. I mean I had my bread and Pasta too!
I had Chicken Caprese sandwich, I mean I like the salad so why not try it on a roll? It came nicely decorated with tomato dressing, mozzarella, arugula, basil/olive aioli, on a squaw roll. No one was squawking here it was delicious.
We will be back.
If you want a sandwich and you want an experience that entails thinking outside the roll but delicious gourmet items in the roll, this is the place.
